Biography

techno vs. oldskool

Music addicts and deejays Marco Hellewegen and Maiko Niestijl joined forces for the first time in 2014 at a Afdeling Techno (Department Techno) party. Although they differed a lot in sound and style, they did multiple b2b gigs together. They decided to team up after playing the legendary Strobe rave together in Rotterdam. Something unusual occurred; two apparent counterparts were perfectly in sync… Project Paradox was born.

Where Marco brings the funky, oldschool techno influences, Maiko contributes with his taste for dark, industrial techno. The merging of their styles was the fundament for playing countless raves throughout the Netherlands and building a firm reputation in their hometown Rotterdam and beyond.

Three years later they have played numerous sets at clubs and festivals like Boothstock Festival, Toffler, Glow in the Dark and Strobe. Sharing the booth with names like DJ Rush, Dave Clarke, Juan Sanchez, Slam, ROD, Dax J, Egbert and many others. With more than three years experience, they have proven to smash crowds consistently with their energetic mix of Marco’s funky groovy techno classics and Maiko’s taste for the deeper and darker sides of techno.

Seeing these guys putting in work is the best way to experience their sets. Only then you can come to fully understand what Project Paradox stands for. See you linksvooraan!
